I felt much more established both as a designer and as a team heading into the spring, so I turned the graphics from school-focused to game-focused, giving them more of a traditional esports feel. I chose to base it around the Cubano font with a punchy accent from the graffiti-style Brick font, which was recently released by esports designer Salvador "Seso" Hernandez.
I also chose to add some dimension to this semester, utilizing depth of field with Overwatch maps and heroes, while masking the heroes in action outside of the frame. I captured each hero screenshot on my own, spending hours in custom games to get the correct poses to make sure there was enough action without being difficult to work with.
A fun end to the season was the Intel Inspires National Championship, where the gold team happened to face against a fellow Wisconsin team and the black team against a nearby Michigan team, but also both opponents' names ended with "Wood". I made the graphic feel more territorial with the state outlines and titled the weekend "Into the Woods," which was a fun step away from the style I had stuck with through the Collegiate Championship season.
